About The Job

About The One Tesco Team

One Tesco is an exciting and high-profile transformation of the Tesco customer experience across all of our channels. Our mission is to be the most helpful we can be to each customer by meeting their individual needs through a joined-up and consistent customer experience.

The team will coordinate multiple programmes of work across the business and take ownership of strategy, standards, guidelines and some core products that will enable business-wide transformation.

The team will also be accountable for defining and documenting a research-led, service design approach and delivering best practices and templates to transform the wider business.

Main Responsibilities

You'll be expected to be at ease working as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team made up of designers, researchers, product managers and analysts, with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads and goals. The team has been established to find more effective ways to meet our customers' needs and deliver better shopping experiences more quickly.

We'll be looking to you to:-

·  Create and code concepts, mock-ups and prototypes using code sketches to help understand and develop the product and for research and testing
·  Support the development and management of internal team tools.
·  Work with the team to identify and define features, use cases and user stories
·  Work with design researchers, insights and analytics partners to understand customer needs, wants and behaviours
·  Work with the Tesco Technology team and third-party suppliers to explore and understand constraints and possibilities
·  Regularly review work with peers and leadership to collect feedback on direction and ensure work is well aligned with others
·  Contribute to service design, UX design, product and development best practices and standards at Tesco.

Ideal Candidate

You'll need to have demonstrated experience of:

·  Considerable experience as a design technologist, UX developer designer, user interface developer, or similar role
·  A portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating user-centred design solutions
·  Bachelor's degree in either software engineering or experience design, related field, or equivalent years of professional experience
·  Must have: HTML - preferably Meteor / React / Handlebars, CSS - Preprocessors (pref. SCSS), JS - inc some basic NodeJS (nice to have Meteor exp.)
·  Nice to have: DB experience - Mongo, ability to use SSH to perform basic maintenance, experience of AWS, inc S3, EC2 and/or Route53, Nginx / Apache config, and NPM module creation
·  Excellent communication, presentation and software development skills
·  Strong user experience design knowledge with focus on interaction design, user research and/or visual design
·  Experience with a variety of development practices and languages and the experience to identify and select appropriately
·  Experience designing and developing prototypes or production-ready code for web, mobile iOS/Android and/or handheld devices
·  Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with researchers and designers
·  Ability to manage projects along with a proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment, and react quickly to changes in direction
·  A team player, with a can-do attitude and an enduring sense of humour.
