About The Job

This is a key role working at the very core of our business to manage legal and regulatory risk in an exciting and fast paced environment. We are a business that is changing and your work is key to this transformation. You would work on a project and issue basis as part of a team of seven lawyers and will be part of a larger global legal team. Your role will include influencing key stakeholders and providing commercial and legally robust solutions to the engine room of the Tesco business.

Main Responsibilities

Supporting the buying teams to negotiate a range of high value contracts across all our trading countries;
Considering stakeholders concerns and spotting other issues: working with the business and adding value;
Advising on regulatory issues such as GSCOP;
Supporting on day to day dispute resolution with suppliers;
Delivering training to buyers;
Supporting the development of precedent agreements and efficient processes and protocols;
Supporting innovation and use of technology to simplify and improve the provision of legal services.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum requirement law degree, or GDL, LPC preferred
Ideally worked in an in-house environment, preferably retailer or FMCG
A pro-active self-starter who is able to work autonomously
Experience of contract negotiation
Can make complex issues simple, see the bigger picture
Efficient and focussed under pressure
