About the Team:

Have you heard of Smart Metering? We are currently involved in an exciting Government led Programme known as `SMIP`. SMIP stands for the `Smart Metering Implementation Programme` and its focus is on providing consumers with an easy and effective way of monitoring and managing their energy use in the home by using only a sim card. We`re now on the look-out for a Specialist in Mobile Packet Core to join this great new team as a Test Engineer and really make a difference!

The Role combines 5 principal activities:

-Specifically to be the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) test lead for SMIP
-Manage and support the acceptance and integration of Software/ Hardware releases of packet core through the test cycle for SMIP, consumer & corporate
-Test Management - Ensure that all Packet Core Projects have appropriate Test Strategies and Plans, and Test Exit Reports
-Operational Handover and Support - Ensure that Risk assessment is completed prior to live implementation and handover to Operations. Provide in-life test support or the service platform
-Continually review the Test Approach adopted within the Packet Core Space, and drive forward improvement initiatives

Good to have:

-Knowledge and understanding of IDS/IPS solutions and how to administer, configure, tune and investigate security events derived from them
-Knowledge of security monitoring, investigation and resolution (SIEM)
-A good understanding of common host/network vulnerabilities and exploits, hacker methodologies and tactics, and the tools used
-Comprehensive understanding of the TCP/IP stack
-Understanding and experience of Network interconnections, including how protocols communicate
-Identification, investigation and reduction of false positives

Essential Experience:

-Integration and Test experience
-Detailed Working knowledge of Evolved Packet Core network elements, interfaces, and protocols

Good to Have:
-CISCO accreditation
-ISEB Foundation qualified
-Sound technical understanding of mobile network and internet based systems including GSM, GPRS and UMTS
-Degree in Engineering or similar qualification
-Detailed working knowledge of the SMIP network

Role will involve occasional travel to other sites and some unsociable hours to support product launch.
