Internal Sales Engineer Role

"Founded in 1983, we have been providing innovative, leading edge process control, automation and data acquisition solutions with our range of unique PAC controllers and robotic arms to a wide range of industries throughout the UK.

The Role

The role will be an office based role with occasional external responsibility when required. You will be responsible for selling a wide variety of products relating to our distributorship of the Opto22 and EPSON automation products. This role involves technical and commercial review of enquiries, quotations, and managing the process through to the placement of an order. You will be responsible for specifying and selection of a complete range of products. Liaising with other Engineers. Supporting customers and their requirements

The Person

Experience of sales or technical support will be considered beneficial however we are open on candidate background.

Knowledge of the process and control industry.

Attitude, personality and passion is equally as important as industry experience.

We are keen to speak with candidates from a solid engineering or industrial background that is looking for a more challenging role

Overview

This varied and interesting role requires a motivated person to provide sales support and technical assistance to the company's growing customer base. You will work closely with our Engineering team to achieve the company's objectives and sales targets by developing new business opportunities and growing the business from existing accounts. You will discuss and advise on the range of products and services available from the company and offer written proposals which highlight the benefits that are specific to the project. You will be involved with project preparation and handover to technical services for on-site or in-house service work. You will also provide technical support to our existing customers and assist with pro-active sales and marketing activities by working closely with our Engineering team

Knowledge and Experience

Suitable for a technically minded person with good communication skills, an eye for detail and above all the desire and ability to provide superior customer service.

The following education, knowledge and Experience will be the ideal background;

  • Knowledge of Modbus protocol/ TCP/IP

  • Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics HNC or similar

  • knowledge of control (PLC’s/SCADA/HMI)

  • motion systems, Robotics

  • data communications

  • Office

    • Answering of phone when required.

    • Customer/Supplier General Enquiries

    • Admin Assistance when requested.

    • Stockroom Assistance when requested.

    • General Office Assistance when required.


  • Internal Sales (phone, e-mail, fax) of Opto22, EPSON, Maple and other SDUK Products.
    • Lead Generation, Maintenance and Follow up.
    • Regular contact with existing customers.
    • Technical preparation - Preparation of Demonstration prior to customer visits.
    • Technical Demonstration - Demonstration/Discussion during customer visits.
    • Quote - Generation/Maintenance of Quotes on Sage and forwarding to customer.
    • Sales Processing - Generation of sales order on Sage.
    • Purchasing - Generation of purchase orders.
    • Liaising with Supplier when required in relation to purchases/Technical enquiries.
    • Support all activities related to marketing plan
    • Writing copy and creating images for use within marketing campaigns.
    • Researching and reporting on external opportunities
    • Understanding current and potential customers needs and wants.
    • Managing the customer journey (customer relationship management)
    • Measuring success of marketing campaigns and tailoring marketing plan accordingly.

Engineering Support

  • Opto22, Epson, Maple and other SDUK Products.
    • Phone, e-mail, fax Technical Support.
    • Customer Technical Investigation and Supplier Technical Feedback.
    • If necessary fielding of technical support issues to the relevant engineer.
    • Site visits requiring technical advice or implementation of a solution.

Training

  • Attend Training when directed.
  • Training Opto22, Epson, Maple and other SDUK Products
    • Short Courses at customer site or SDUK.
  • Staff Training
    • Training of SDUK personnel.

Other

  • Forecasting Spreadsheet or CRD when fully implemented.
  • Attend monthly meetings.
  • Attend Customer meetings when requested on behalf of SDUK.
  • Other tasks may be requested and would be subject to agreement.

  • Maintain Sales Forecast data
