ARIANET, the Air & Climate unit in Italy, delivers studies, develops, designs, installs and manages cutting-edge solutions related to air quality management: diagnostic, real-time monitoring, forecast and scenario studies, for a proven customer base of industries, public and para-public entities.
To provide the best environmental solutions for our customers, we are strengthening our applied modeling team which performs studies and develops and manage simulation systems in industrial and urban areas.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Your mission
You will join the ARIANET team dealing with the impact of energy and industrial plants, road traffic and transport infrastructures at local and urban scales, using multiple 3D meteorological and air quality models.
You will be involved in the execution of impact assessment and scenario studies, to support planning and permitting, organizing the needed data to carry them out, critically analyzing the results obtained and drafting the final documentation.
You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of cloud-native web applications and python-based management tools, and to the configuration of air quality simulation systems, either cloud-based or installed at customer’s premises, providing training and assistance, both remotely and in person.
Depending on your skills and inclinations, you will gradually participate in the development of new features of models and systems developed by ARIANET in collaboration with its national and international partners, also updating the accompanying technical documentation.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Your profile
You are the one if you:
Have a master's degree in physics, engineering, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
Have strong motivation and interest in actively working in the environmental field
Possess basic knowledge of atmospheric physics and/or meteorology, acquired through university courses or documented post-graduate experience
Have a good command of spoken and written Italian

Following proven expertise is a strong plus:
Previous experience in the field of atmospheric sciences
Experience in using Linux OS, programming with Python, managing source code through Git, using containers (e.g. Docker), cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google) and HPC environments.
Good knowledge of the English language and good writing skills
Good analytical and communication skills
Can work independently while coordinating as a team

Additional desired skills are if you:
Have good command of Linux
Are familiar with scientific programming languages (e.g. FORTRAN, R, shell scripts, etc.)
Have experience in working in cloud environments or high-performance computing
