Job Description
STMicroelectronics Malta is seeking skilled and motivated Equipment Engineers to support its semiconductor manufacturing operations. The role is key to ensuring high equipment reliability, maximizing manufacturing efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement in a high‑tech production environment.
Duties and responsibilities
The responsibilities include:
· Reduce equipment downtime by improving equipment health through predictive and preventive maintenance.
· Perform Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) analysis on test lines to improve test cell utilization, focusing on recurring issues and “worst offenders.”
· Improve maintenance adherence by planning interventions and ensuring all required spare parts are codified and available in stores.
· Enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by maintaining and upgrading equipment and strictly following RTP procedures.
· Monitor and optimize maintenance costs by regularly reviewing onsite spares, minimizing consumable replacement costs, and reducing spare-part spending through second sourcing and lean repair strategies.
· Improve Mean Time Between Interventions (MTBI) by ensuring robust maintenance practices, timely upgrades, and adherence to RTP procedures.
· Coordinate technician certification and training to ensure a highly skilled maintenance workforce.
· Collaborate closely with production, engineering teams, and equipment suppliers to plan and coordinate maintenance activities.
· Meet regularly with equipment suppliers to align on current performance, roadmap, and future needs.
· Follow up and manage maintenance contracts with external service providers.
· Manage the bill of spare parts, including identification, codification, stock level definition, and optimization.
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate must:
· Hold a master's degree or PhD in an engineering-related discipline.
· Have good knowledge of maintenance and manufacturing processes.
· Have good knowledge of project management principles and practices.
· Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
· Be capable of working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
· Be goal-oriented, disciplined, and able to meet deadlines.
· Embrace a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
· Make sound decisions based on diligent assessment and analysis.
