The process operator contributes to Starbucks’ success by operating the automated Advanced Coffee Roasting System (ACRS) for green and roasted, modifying the roasting schedule as needed to support immediate and future packaging requirements.  You work within a team environment to optimize productivity and meet the needs of our customer, our business and each other. You model and act in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. 




Your key responsibilities


 


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


·         Operating the green and roasted platform of the Advanced Coffee Roasting System (ACRS);


·         Assessing current and future schedule requirements against actual loading, roasting and packaging requirements;


·         Advising manufacturing partners and supervising machine performance issues to minimize downtime;


·         Maintaining optimum packaging machine uptime, while avoiding coffee aging issues;


·         Completing and maintaining required documentation;


·         Conducting troubleshooting, roaster preventative (autonomous) maintenance and cleaning activities;


·         Auditing and documenting silo and system status and other quality benchmarks;


·         Compiling data and identifying trends to support continuous improvement efforts;


·         Conducting internal recall investigations for product not meeting specifications;


·         Following all safety and security guidelines;


·         Participating in process improvement activities for the ARP;


·         Supporting cost reduction goals by identifying and acting upon potential roadblocks and process improvements to reduce downtime, scrap and product not meeting specifications;


·         Re-blending coffee in accordance with established guidelines;


·         Ensuring compliance with Starbucks roast profiles;


·         Maintaining coffee quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines, product specifications and quality procedures;


·         Monitoring and documenting quality measures using analytical tools;


·         Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment;


·         At times any other tasks to support the total operations of the plant;


·         Ensuring procedures, OPL’s, forms etc. related to the job function are regularly reviewed and updated.






Your profile




The ideal process operator we’re looking for has a minimum of 3years of demonstrated experience in process technology, within a similar and preferably international environment.


 


Must haves:


·         Mechanical/Technical Aptitude to troubleshoot minor equipment failures and make minor adjustments;


·         Ability to perform quality tests using analytical tools;


·         Ability to gather, record and report on operational and quality metrics through manual or automated systems;


·         Ability to work in accordance with quality, safety, and sanitation standards, policies and guidelines;


·         Analytical skills;


·         Ability to follow verbal direction;


·         Ability to understand written and verbal policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards;


·         Ability to apply problem solving techniques, collaborate with team members on decision making exercises;


·         Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing (for coaching in various SME areas);


·         Demonstrates ability to work well in a team environment;


·         Connect positively with others to facilitate the attainment of business results;


·         Leadership/communication skills; 


·         Ability to speak, write and read Dutch and English;


·         Pro-active in solving problems.


 


Good to haves:


·         Math skills;


·         Familiarity with American Institute of Baking (AIB), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards;


·         Skills in Microsoft Windows and Web-based environments.
