Job description
The Business Development Manager (BDM) Licensed Storescontributes to Starbucks success by building and maintaining relationships with existing and new Starbucks licensed partners (large multinationals)across multiple channels. The BDM will help to develop new Starbucks licensed business, building on a solid foundation of licensees. The BDM supports the operations of the licensed stores and while leading the growth of licensed stores across Europe. You are an ambassador for the Starbucks brand.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
As BDM Licensed Stores you develop a comprehensive business development plan to manage and expand the Starbucks existing global portfolio of licensed stores. You drive business unit objectives such as store count, system sales and profit. You conduct proactive business reviews and you independently represent Starbucks. You evaluate existing performance and target ambitious and sustainable new licensed store growth and further geographic development within Europe. You successfully build long term relationships, at all levels, with our licensees as well as within the international Starbucks organization.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Properly representing the Starbucks brand and everything it stands for in international meetings, presentations and other social settings with customers, authorities or other stakeholders, in line with our guiding principles and company culture;
Developing contacts and prospects that fit the Starbucks brand, the development strategy and long-term aspirations and goals;
Developing and achieving strong sales volume and profit growth, driven by ambitious new licensed store opening numbers;
Negotiating master licensing agreements. Reviewing expirations and developing a plan for new stores, renewals, renovations and closures;
Building long-term account value with executive level relationships within key accounts;
Organizing and delivering business reviews;
Representing Licensed Stores in the Market Planning process for a designated region;
Site selection and store location review. Judging and qualifying proposed store locations for brand appropriateness, business potential and fit with wider Starbucks market and channel development strategies;
Coordinating resources from design, store development, operations, and the licensee to ensure new stores are opened on schedule and existing stores are being maintained at or above Starbucks standards.
Summary of Experience
The qualified Business Development Manager Licensing we’re looking for has at least 5 years of solid experience in key account management and business development at executive and management levels within foodservice or retail in Europe.
Must haves:
Bachelor or Master degree;
Foodservice franchising and/or licensing new business development;
Negotiating complex agreements and contracts;
Rolling out programs within Europe;
Experience with real estate and/or qualifying of retail locations for a licensed brand
Experience and a sizeable personal network, at the leadership level, in Western European retail and foodservice channels
This position requires traveling 50% of your time. You will be based in Amsterdam.

Strong sales skills, including the ability to make sales presentations, handle customer concerns, negotiate, develop pricing and close the sale;
Strong influencing and negotiating skills;
Project management skills, including measurement, reporting and financial analysis.
