Salary: £27,103- £30,528 p.a.
Full Time and Part Time post available, working on a waking night rota

About us
St Mungo’s Broadway provides a bed and support to more than 2,500 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and works to prevent homelessness, helping about 25,000 people a year. We believe no one should be homeless and that people can – and do – recover from the issues that create homelessness.

Our No Second Night Out (NSNO) service aims to rapidly intervene so that no one needs to sleep rough. We are currently expanding our work in our three assessment hubs to ensure as many rough sleepers as possible receive a rapid response, a full assessment of their needs and an offer of help to move away from rough sleeping. We believe that rough sleeping is harmful and dangerous and are committed to ensuring that no one need sleep rough in London.

The role
As a Support Worker you will carry out comprehensive new rough sleeper client assessments; offering support and advice around reconnection or accommodation offers. You will draw up effective action plans with clients and through case management you will explain the role of the service and the benefits of reconnection. You will also liaise and negotiate on a daily basis with outside agencies including the police, social services and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

What you’ll need
• Experience of working with vulnerable people
• Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing law and the range of drugs and alcohol services
• An understanding of the issues faced by homelessness or vulnerably house people; including the difficulties they experience in accessing services
• A commitment to helping vulnerable people make positive changes in their lives
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Strong communications and negotiating skills

This is an exciting role working for Europe’s largest provider of street outreach services and one of the UK’s leading Homeless Charities. If you believe that you have the skills, knowledge and drive that we are looking for and a passion for working for a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of homeless people, we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 7th October 2015
