As one of the UK's largest and most diverse energy companies, we're always keen to identify great talent to support SSE's growth in the energy industry. Our core values of Safety, Service, Efficiency, Sustainability, Excellence and Teamwork illustrate what we as a company are about and we strive to reflect these values in all we do.
We're looking for bright, ambitious graduate with a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long term future with us to join our Engineering Graduate Programme in our Transmission business. Our Graduate Programme is designed with our core values in mind and aims to qualify and train you to become our engineers of the future.
We can offer you a structured and challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Learning and Development Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. Our programme is accredited by the ICE and offers a route to Professional Registration (Chartered or Incorporated Engineer). The programme will support your career development into an Operational, Technical Design or Project Management role.
You will play a key role from day one in helping the business maximise value from our operating assets, and ensuring we achieve our ambitious capital investment plans. You'll spend time developing your skills across different business areas and will take individual responsibility for real results at each stage. This will involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to certain business areas therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage.
For this programme, you'll ideally have a MEng or minimum of a 2:1 BEng in civil engineering discipline with related work or project experience. You will have previous experience of working in a team environment and will be used to setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
You should have an interest in the energy industry and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.
If you want to work in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family. For us it's not just about being good at what you do - it's about enjoying what you do, too. So we'll encourage and empower you to be imaginative, share your great ideas, and do work that you can be proud of. On top of a competitive salary, you'll enjoy generous holiday entitlement with options to purchase additional leave, a Group Pension Plan, share options and extra discounts.
