TELECOMS FIBRE NETWORK SUPPORT ENGINEER

HAMPSHIRE

SALARY UP TO £55,669 (DEPENDING ON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE)

SSE Enterprise Telecoms operate a 13,800km national network, providing cutting edge data services across the UK to both private and public sector organisations, other UK Telco's, and the wider SSE group.

Due to significant growth, we are looking for a Support engineer to join our Fibre and Records Team to help support the UK wide network.

Predominately desk based, your primary responsibility will be the upkeep of our national fibre network. This will involve live fibre fault analysis and resolution, and working closely with our front desk team to minimise customer disruption and 'down time'. As part of the role you will be expected to carry out numerous duties, one of which will be a callout rota. This rota enables SSEET to provide out of hours service support for all of our customers.

More generally you will assist the Business in growing a first class network, working alongside the design team on the provision of new services. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, held within our Smallworld GIS system.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of knowledge relating to fibre optic networks, be a good communicator, possess excellent analytical skills, and be able to manage their time effectively. Experience of working within a Telecoms NOC or Planning environment is essential.

Knowledge of the following systems and skills will be required to be successful in the role: GE Smallworld GIS, Fibre testing techniques (OTDR / ILM) CFCE qualification or equivalent, Microsoft suite (Visio / Access / Excel).
