SALARY: £33,520 - £49,645 (Salary Dependant of experience)

We are looking for a Real Time Systems Field Engineer to join our team in Perth although consideration will be given to a final location in Aberdeen or Inverness following an initial period of around 12 months working in our Perth office. Your main responsibilities will be the day to day management of supervision of RTS framework contractors that install the RTS equipment and the support of the RTS Delivery Project Team. You will also participate in systems Factory and Site Acceptance testing, on going maintenance and development of the RTS equipment. Participation in an Emergency Standby support rota will be required when the team is fully developed and takes on the full role.

To be successful in this role, you'll have field working experience in one or more of the following; RTUs & Telemetry Protocols, Communications, Control Systems or Local Control Systems. You should have undertaken an apprenticeship or similar training in telecommunications, IT, electronics or related subject. You'll be qualified to at least ONC or equivalent, however an HNC is preferred. As Safety is SSE's number one priority, you'll be Safety focused. You'll be required to undertake SSE electrical competent person training and site safety certification. You'll have excellent communication skills and be open to new ideas and be pragmatic in approach. In addition, you must be able to manage your own work load and work well independently, As much of the technology being implemented is relatively new, training will be given where necessary. Candidates with the above experience will be considered for this role at grade 7 (£33,520 - £44,269).

Alternatively we would look to appoint directly to Band 8 (£37,588 - £49,645) somebody who has at least 3 years practical experience in RTU configuration, a good understanding of DNP3, IEC61850 or Schneider EWISP+ protocol, experience of the deployment of IP communications devices such as routers / switches and who also has experience of procurement of new equipment, field testing, factory testing and specifying telemetry requirements.
