OXFORD/ SWINDON/ RIDGEWAY REGION

SALARY: £22,572 - 26,866 depending on experience.

45 HOURS A WEEK

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks we are keeping our customers' lives comfortable, warm and well lit, no matter what. Our focus on people helps us understand the needs of the community and deliver the best service possible – no excuses. We've worked on our networks for over 70 years to meet the changing needs of our customers. We are ready to meet the challenges ahead. We're powering our community.

SSE's core purpose is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. Our strategy is to deliver sustained growth in the dividend payable to shareholders through the efficient operation of, and investment in, a balanced range of regulated and non regulated business. SSEPD cabling section, part of the SSE group, provides utility support in most areas of the UK. This includes major cabling works and utility solutions in both water and gas supplies. Due to continued growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Cable Layer to join our team in Oxford.

As part of this role you'll be responsible for the excavation and laying of cables for new business and fault work, and carrying out reinstatement duties. As you'll be working on our construction works you'll be expected to maintain a high standard of safety whilst working within a team and displaying excellent customer facing skills at all times. This is a physically demanding role and will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ideally you will have previous experience in excavation and cable laying and hold a NRSWA card, though applicants with similar relevant or no experience will also be considered. As safety is one of our key priorities, you will have the ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and to work within our Health and Safety guidelines. A full, current driving license is essential as travel may be required.

If you have the skills to work in an environment that is passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, and want to be part of one of the greatest growth industries of the 21st century, we'd like to hear from you. We take pride in our work and employ people who care about quality and want to feel proud to be part of the SSE family.
