Job description

Business Energy Customer Service Advisor

Wholesale – Business Energy

Basingstoke/Reading

Salary from £20,182 - £26,653 + excellent benefits

Depending on Skill and Experience

At SSE we believe in making a difference. Our job is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. That's why we have invested over £1 billion in UK infrastructure in the past year alone, paid £1 billion in taxes since 2011, and employ over 19,000 people across the UK and Ireland.

Our Business Energy team supply over 500,000 business customer accounts with electricity and gas contracts across a broad and diverse client base. We believe our people are our most important asset and we also believe in developing our staff to get the best from them, building up talent from within. Due to our continued success and to support our future business strategy and growth we have a number of opportunities for Business Energy Customer Service Advisors to join our quote production teams.

In Quote Production, the work can be divided up into three parts: tender logging, quoting and accepting. We are the first cog in the machine.

We receive requests from consultants to provide them with a price for their customers, this falls under the tender logging part. A tender is then logged in either ESIQS or ESGas, depending on whether the request is for an electricity or gas supply.

The second part is then to quote the tenders that have been created from these pricing requests. Quote Production do not send out the offers, this is the role of the KAM. Should our offer be accepted by the customer, the KAM will 'lock-in' the contract in the relevant system and provide the contracts to us to be 'Transferred' which is the third part to what we do.

To be successful you will need to have a minimum GCSE grade C in English and Maths, excellent interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and be confident communicating with people at all levels of our business. You'll have a proven track record in sales and negotiation, you'll be target driven and will have a good understanding of the sales cycle along with the ability to identify opportunities to upsell. It is critical that you have a passion for delivering excellent service.

You will be able to work on your own initiative, be inquisitive, decisive and able to see tasks through to completion. Ideally you will have a background within utilities, though training can be provided.

"In our annual engagement survey our staff voted us as a great place to work"
