The Company:


This position offers an enthusiastic designer the opportunity to work for the UK’s largest sports retailer, with over 400 stores in the UK and Europe. Ideal for a candidate with an interest in sports, the position offers a strong insight to the foundations of commercial design. Based at the head office in Shirebrook (just off the M1, jct 29) this role will provide invaluable experience for industrious individuals.


The Role:


The successful candidate will be working closely alongside the Licensed Apparel Design Manager to design and develop commercial performance sportswear apparel. The job role heavily involves the design and product development of licensed apparel including football and rugby apparel and would suit someone with an interest in these categories.


Key Responsibilities




  • Provide design and administrative support to the Design Manager.
  • Responsible for the execution of designs within the football apparel and licensed product category.
  • Designs key items to fit into the seasonal concepts.
  • Creation of garment specification packages using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Research relevant emerging trends and innovative design concepts.
  • Present ideas to the Design Manager in a confident manor.
  • Work closely with the category buyers and Design Manger to help shape the category.
  • Communicate clearly with buyers and other members of staff.
  • Provide support material for meetings.
  • Manage own time effectively.


The Candidate:




  • Talented, innovative and passionate about football apparel.
  • A good working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A degree or equivalent in fashion design or a fashion related subject is essential.
  • A background in retail is preferable but not essential.
  • A strong work ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Day to day duties are varied and deadlines must be met so organisation is important.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A general knowledge of garment construction is beneficial.
  • Should be able to work well in a team as well as on own initiative.
  • The ability to adapt to changes in working environment and workload.
