Plan Geotechnical Well Operations
Coordinate with Client - Operation geologist and Asset team to ensure well objectives are clearly defined.
Prepare data and information for well operations prior to boarding to the rig-site.
Understand and be aware of the geological implications during all well site operations.
Ensure a high level of geotechnical service performance by briefing contractor personnel on site.
Implement and report Geological Operations
Full responsibility for the quality control of geological data acquisition and wellsite data delivery.
Assist Client in making the decision to call well total depth or whether a borehole/well needs to be deepened to meet all geological objectives.
Supervise services contractors (mud log, wireline, LWD, coring) in delivering high quality records of events, lithology, gas show, real time & record LWD/Wireline logs and other geological data.
Frequently meet services contractor’s unit for working advice and data QC.
Ensure timely communication of pertinent data to operation personnel on the rig and from town.
Evaluate as required, wireline and LWD data at rig site, providing detailed evaluations to town as requested
Responsibility for providing the rig-site interface between geological and drilling department requirements.
To reliably inform and advise the Client of well conditions during all drilling related well site operations.
Ensure services data deliverables meet pre-defined company and government requirements
Follow up and close out all geotechnical issues that were encountered during well operations.
Check and QC final logs and reports from contractors.
Prepare Geological end of well report.
Budgets and Commercial
Ensure that data requirements are met with the minimum amount of cost and risk.
Know the basic terms of the service contracts with the various contractors and be prepared to resolve any problems involving contracted equipment and services.
Check service invoices to ensure the Client is correctly charged for Mud-logging, Wireline and LWD services.
Mentoring, Training and Experience
Assist mud loggers in understanding their jobs, well site operations and subsurface geology/deposition environment.
Stay in touch with the Client - Operations and Technical departments to follow the evolution of mud and wireline logging equipment and techniques.
Stay in touch with oil industry developments via trade publications, technical papers and oil industry contacts.




Qualification:
Knowledge: A degree in Geosciences, Geology or Geophysics. A detailed understanding of drilling and related Geotechnical operations and procedures gained through extensive rig-site Geological experience.
Experience: At least 5 years experience in geotechnical wellsite operations in exploration and development, gained working as a mud-logger, well-site geologist, and/or LWD/WL engineer. Experience with fast ROP drilling in GOT and familiar with GeoSteering in horizontal well.
Skills: Strong in well data acquisition, limitation and QA/QC. Familiar with drilling equipment and drilling operational events. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate and address issue to operation geologist, drilling supervisor and service contractors. An ability to work well in a team, combined with flexibility and adaptability are essential. Dedicate to work. Excellent reporting and communication skills and an ability to express ideas and instructions clearly both orally and in writing are also essential
