Job Description

As a Senior Business Consultant, you will operate as advisor to UK mortgage and savings providers, owning senior client relationships and shaping high value engagements across service oversight, strategic consulting, and delivery leadership. 

You will be accountable for client outcomes, service excellence, and revenue growth, combining deep industry expertise with strong commercial judgement and delivery oversight. This role is suited experienced professionals who want genuine accountability for client success, commercial impact, and delivery outcomes, while remaining close to clients and the work itself. 

Key Responsibilities 

End-to-End Delivery Leadership & Client Value 

·  Provide senior leadership across client engagements from discovery through delivery, maintaining accountability for outcomes rather than day-to-day execution 
·  Shape delivery approaches by applying deep understanding of client objectives, regulatory drivers, and operational context to ensure initiatives deliver meaningful business value 
·  Contribute to presales and solution shaping, ensuring proposed approaches are coherent, deliverable, and aligned to client strategy and priorities 
·  Act as a Product Owner or delivery lead where required, making informed trade-offs to balance value, quality, regulatory considerations, and delivery pace 
·  Identify opportunities to enhance client outcomes through insight gained during delivery, working in partnership with Account Managers to progress these where appropriate 

High-Value Consulting & Continuous Improvement 

·  Identify systemic and operational pain points across mortgage and savings environments 
·  Lead consulting engagements focused on: 
·  Process optimisation and operational efficiency 
·  Risk reduction and service resilience 
·  Platform and capability enablement 
·  Conduct root cause analysis of complex issues, ensuring preventative and sustainable improvements are implemented 
·  Collaborate with clients to introduce new products, services, or operating approaches that improve outcomes and long-term value 

Service Oversight & Operational Assurance 

·  Own service oversight for assigned client portfolios, ensuring service performance supports business continuity, contractual commitments and service excellence 
·  Lead structured service reviews covering:
·  SLA, availability, and batch performance 
·  Operational risk and incident trends 
·  Service improvement initiatives 
·  Develop and execute service improvement plans aligned to both managed service performance and client strategic objectives 

Consultancy Leadership & Capability Development 

·  Act as a role model for consulting excellence across the practice 
·  Coach and mentor consultants, supporting development across: 
·  Client engagement 
·  Service management 
·  Consulting approach 
·  Promote a proactive, outcome-driven culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement 
·  Contribute to the evolution of consulting methodologies, industry playbooks, and reusable assets 

Qualifications

Essential Skill Profile 

·  Significant experience working within UK mortgage and/or savings environments ideally in a Tier 1 UK Bank or Consultancy Practice, with a strong understanding of products, customer journeys, and operating models 
·  Demonstrated experience leading high-value consulting engagements, from problem identification through to outcome delivery 
·  Proven ability to operate alongside Executive and Heads of client stakeholders across business, operations, and technology 
·  Strong capability in discovery, solution shaping, and requirement definition, including epics and user stories aligned to business outcomes 
·  Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex operational or technical issues into clear business insight 
·  Experience contributing to presales activity, including RFP responses, estimation, or client demonstrations 

Desirable Skill Profile 

·  Understanding of service management concepts, including SLA performance, incident trends, and continuous improvement 
·  Track record of mentoring or coaching consultants and contributing to practice capability development 
·  Hands-on experience acting as a Product Owner or delivery lead in agile or hybrid environments 
·  Formal qualifications in ITIL, Agile, Business Analysis, or Lean / Six Sigma 
·  Exposure to regulated financial services change, including risk, operational resilience, or customer outcome–driven initiatives

Budget: 65,000 - 75,000 £/annum
