HMP Addiewell is a learning prison, with a strong and concerted focus on learning not to reoffend, relevant skills training and employability and we work with all areas of the wider community to ensure prisoners have the best possible chance of leading positive lives following release. Addiewell opened in 2008 and has become an integral part of the Scottish Prison Service estate earning much praise from (amongst others) HMCIP, for its innovation, use of technology, strong partnership working as well as its “can do” culture.
We are now recruiting for Operational Support Officers who share our values and beliefs to work with prisoners in a secure environment focusing on meeting both their immediate and resettlement needs.
Role Responsibility
Here at HMP Addiewell Operational Support Officers are integral to the day to day running of the prison. Operational Support Officers are the front line on a day to day basis, for the tasks listed below:
· Provide a first point of contact to the general public and official visitors in a polite and professional manner
· Operate and monitor security and supervision systems within the prison
· Operate and input data into the corporate IT systems and local and corporate administrative systems as required
· Report any problems or concerns, potential breaches of security or Health and Safety hazards to the Duty Manager immediately
· Ensure a thorough handover to incoming staff, making them fully aware of recent and forthcoming events
· Carry out all work in accordance with policy and procedures, in particular health and safety, equal opportunity, diversity & inclusion, suicide prevention and anti-bullying policies
