Mission

Description of the Business Line or Department

Prime Brokerage and Commodities Clearing Client Services are a client facing department, acting as the dedicated point of contact for client’s of the platform. Coordination of front to back, post trade issues owned by client services on a day to day basis. Building and maintaining an effective dialogue with clients, to meet their expectations via tools, reporting and issue resolution. Fast growing and fast moving department within a global tier 1 Prime Broker.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Prime Brokerage and Commodities Clearing Client Services are a client facing department, acting as the dedicated point of contact for client’s of the platform. Coordination of front to back, post trade issues owned by client services on a day to day basis. Building and maintaining an effective dialogue with clients, to meet their expectations via tools, reporting and issue resolution. Fast growing and fast moving department within a global tier 1 Prime Broker.

• Day to day operational support of account coverage of the Prime and Commodities client base, covering multiple client types and asset classes.
• Support the dedicated points of contact for clients and perform ad hoc support, whilst receiving on the job training. Opportunity based on performance of progression into a temp to perm role.
• Ensuring support of systems and processes, with a focus on relationships with the dedicated client base and all internal stakeholders.
• Support process improvements, and internal ad hoc projects.
• Client facing progression once the role context is understood.

Summary of responsibilities

Working within the Client Services team you will be asked to perform following duties:

• Support Day to day account management for clients on world-wide markets including:
o trades and cash breaks monitoring and clearing
o Reporting setup and investigation
o Awareness and Knowledge of Regulatory reporting environment.
o Settlement issues
o Balance conversions
o Collateral managements, brokerage and interests queries, cash adjustments, IT queries, static data, corporate actions, dividends

• Management of the documenting of daily reports
• Dealing with the daily client files for reporting purposes
• Client liaison regarding exercises/assignments.
• Resolution regarding cash management, interest, commissions and fees
• Dealing with ad hoc queries from clients ensuring problems are resolved promptly and efficiently
• MI support
• Develop and maintain the relations between stakeholders
• Escalate material problems and issues in a professional manner to your direct reporting line
• Have a detailed knowledge of Portal offering and able to assist and help the client and the team to utilise its full functional suite.
• Participate in projects to improve processes and workflows
• Any other ad hoc tasks as required for the role
• Ensure Financial Crime prevention and Compliance procedures (Compliance manual) are applied, enforced and followed
• Take ownership for your own training ensuring you are fully competent on all areas that impact your role.
• Ensure you keep an open communication channel with your supervisor and / or manager throughout the day, escalating any issue that is outside of normal day to day activity
• Keep up to date with industry trends, including client base knowledge of how client types are structured (eg Hedge Funds, CTAs, PTGs, Brokers, Financial Institutions, Banks, Administrators).

Level of Autonomy and Authority

Trainee role – supervision and training provided, in line with desk procedures. Degree of autonomy required to complete coverage tasks and work on escalation/problem solving.

Competencies

Product Coverage Some knowledge of Prime Brokerage industry.
Demonstrable Client Facing attitude.
Understanding of investment banking markets and operations.

Technical/Systems knowledge Training will be provided but prior internship knowledge is valuable.
Listed Derivative, OTC, Securities, FX, Swap product knowledge and awareness of life of a trade flows.
Understanding of the Prime Brokerage and Clearing industry.
Regulatory knowledge, in the context of capital markets and European, UK legislation.
Operational mindset.
Microsoft Office package knowledge is essential

Qualifications Degree level of education.
Strong written and Excellent verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills.
Good aptitude with numbers, with intermediate to developed knowledge of Excel an advantage.

Education

Degree level education or equivalent demonstrative ability to assimilate information is a requirement for this role in a role handling Capital Markets activity, preferably with regulatory knowledge.

Languages

Not mandatory but a distinct advantage - preferred French speaker.
Italian or German speaker useful.
