Mission

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Société Générale International Metals FI desk is mainly focused on Listed derivatives ( futures ) execution services on the London Metal Exchange combining a hybrid offering between Open Outcry + Electronic solutions.
Our business line enjoys a market leading status with our client base focused on Financial Institutions, CTA`s, Hedge funds, Asset Managers, Pension Funds and Large Corporates.

Summary Of The Key Purposes Of The Role

SGIL is an LME Open Outcry member so this role is mainly focused on being an LME Floor clerk during ring hours 11.30am to 6pm

Candidate needs to be able to work in an team environment
Demonstrate excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
Able to work under pressure
Excellent computer & Excel skills so can easily adapt to the many SG systems working on jobs such as P&L reconciliation and Position reconciliation
Have an entrepreneurial spirit being able to think outside the box offering new ideas to the Floor team and ways to improve the business line.

Summary of Responsibilities

As an LME floor clerk during ring times writing on a trade blotter our trades and checking them after the ring with the other member in a timely and very accurate manner.
Using SG front office tools to check and report our intraday and End of day positions with the sales/traders making sure we are within our desk limits and if not accurate investigating the breaks.
On the LME floor helping to manage Second Ring close and Market on close (MOC) – amalgamation, placement, booking, recapping of orders/deals.

In the London office outside of ring times duties are :-
Reconciliation of previous day's business.
Compilation and reporting of daily breaks file.
Calculation and reporting of daily P&L figures.
Be outspoken and willing to help London desk staff with ad-hoc duties.

Relevant work experience in the Commodities Broker and Bank sector helps but not essential
