At Societe Generale, you will be joining the Global Markets division (MARK) of SG Corporate and Investment Banking. MARK offers a cross-asset approach along all its offerings : Research, Investment & Risk Management Solutions, Execution and Prime Services to asset managers, pension funds, companies, private banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, family offices, sovereign funds and distributors worldwide.

Description of the Business Line or Department
Working within the Markets COO team in London. Based in Bishops Square, Liverpool Street, London.
The team of four (of which this role will be part) has 2 mandates:
- Global Chief Control Officer; and
- UK Global Markets COO.

Chief Controls Office is in-charge to:
- Ensure a comprehensive and consistent framework for the identifications, prevention and monitoring of operational and conduct risks.
- Run the Conflicts of Interest Office
- Accompany MARK management in rolling out the Conduct framework globally for MARK.

UK Global Markets COO office is in-charge to tackle Operational and conduct risk issues transversally for MARK UK and also lead on transversal projects linked to IT and Real Estate.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Assist in the monitoring and prevention of risks' for MARK (mainly UK scope but could extend beyond)
Help in ensuring an effective UK Governance for MARK on operational and Conduct risk related topics
Assist in transversal topics/projects
Summary of responsibilities

Perform Permanent Supervision controls for MARK COO team.
Support the team on ensuring the Operational and Conduct risk dashboards are well designed and the metrics continue to be relevant, including ensuring the MARK UK Management Information pack is produced on a timely basis (which requires coordination with Compliance, Operational risk teams etc).
Contribute to the risk assessment process (RCSA, Conflicts of interest risk assessment etc) including attendance to some interviews
Assist the team on Conduct spot check tool process (reportings, dashboards, IT tool, HR files etc) for MARK globally.
Assist in the process linked to Overseas visitors coming into the UK (in terms of record keeping, controls, IT tool etc).
Assist in the e-learning overdue process for MARK on a global basis
Assist on ad-hoc transversal topics including trading floor premises topics, IT topics, organization chart updates and any other ad-hoc topics being worked on.
Assist other team members on related topics (Governance, Conflicts of Interest, Conduct etc.)
Help to contribute to good governance for MARK on operational and conduct risk related topics.
Assist on other ad hoc transversal topics as needed.

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in London is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com.

Your profile




Graduate from Engineering school, Business School or University with a master degree in Finance or Banking.

You ideally have a previous experience inExperience within COO environment of Capital Market activities or exposure in Operational risk or Compliance .

You have strong analytical skills,general knowledge of financial markets, general knowledge of new regulatory requirements in terms of conduct & operational risk

You are fluent in English, French language is desirable.

You are proficient with MS Office, VBA will be a plus.
