Your Environment
At Societe Generale, you will be joining the Finance division of Global Banking & Investors Solutions (GBIS), one of the three pillars of SG that brings together Corporate and Investment Banking activities, Private Banking activities, Asset Management and Investor Services. This division oversees the quality and delivery of financial statements for GBIS, the independent certification of financial data for various activities, and also provides day-to-day explanations on profit and loss for market activities.
Established in 29 locations worldwide with around 4.000 employees, Societe Generale Security Services (SGSS) provides a full range of securities services that are adapted to the latest financial markets and regulatory trend. SGSS Frankfurt offers clearing, custody and trustee services to German and International Funds and Institutional clients.
The reconciliation team is in charge of controlling daily the adequacy and quality of SGSS Frankfurt’s general accounting and of the monthly accounting certification. The Reconciliation officer is responsible to identify, allocate and follow-up on the solving of any break between the auxiliary cash accounting and the general accounting. He/she is also in charge of producing local regulatory reporting (cross-border payments and securities portfolio).
Due to a planned short-term increase in business activity in SGSS Frankfurt, the Reconciliation team is looking for an additional resource. The position entails frequent interactions with operational teams in France (Paris and Nantes) as well as in Germany.
Mission
Your role
During your VIE mission you will be in charge of:
- Cash reconciliation of ancillary accounting systems (entries related to securities + cash processing) against the General-Ledger
- Matching of reconciled entries in the General-Ledger
- Strict follow up of breaks/open positions with the relevant business department (mainly remote operating teams in France)
- Escalation of open positions / breaks to management according to the defined internal procedures
- All reconciliation works have to be evidenced by an audit proof documentation
- Contribution to the production and control of monthly German regulatory reports, of which “AWV ” and “Statistik über Wertpapierinvestments” i.e. pertaining to cross-border payments and securities holdings
- Ad-hoc tasks related to analysis and correction of discrepancies in the cash-reconciliation and AWV-reporting
- Interactions with SGSS Frankfurt Reconciliation team, remote SGSS operational teams in Paris and Nantes, SGSS Frankfurt operational teams, SGSS Frankfurt management, accounting and controlling of SG Frankfurt Branch and Risk Department (Frankfurt/Paris)
Profil
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Frankfurt am Main is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see www.civiweb.com.
Your profile
EQF Level 5 diploma (Bac +2/3 in France) in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
A first experience (internship) in accounting, reconciliation and/or controlling would be an advantage
Knowledge in Securities Services
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Fluency in French and English, intermediate level in German
