Bank Worker for lady with an Acquired Brain Injury
Graduate job Godalming (Surrey)
Job description
Jennifer, 50, is a delightful and humorous lady with an acquired brain injury. Jennifer is seeking a caring, flexible and motivational bank worker to cover her care team’s holidays, absences and also additional cover during the school holidays. Most of the shifts will be pre-planned, however if the bank worker is required to cover sickness/absence they will be at short notice.
Prior to her ABI, Jennifer owned a Montessori Nursery for 15 years. Jennifer’s ABI has resulted in memory and language difficulties, she experiences absence seizures that can occur at any time, but generally happen during the night, with her calling out as though she is in pain and becoming disorientated. Jennifer has mild/moderate expressive and receptive dysphasia, she is largely fluent but sometimes needs communication support to help her find the right words she is trying to express, particularly the names of people and places. Jennifer needs consistency and support with her daily routine, but other than prompts and supervision, in many areas she is quite independent including her own personal care. She uses a memory diary, folder and paper memory prompts to plan her day
The bank worker will support and empower Jennifer to take the next steps in leading an active social life. Jennifer has recently started piano lessons, singing in the local choir, swimming and is excited to try new things, such as concerts at the O2! Jennifer has achieved many fantastic objectives in the past 18 months with her communication, reading and writing skills. One of Jennifer’s main goals is to build a positive relationship with her twin daughters who are 10 years old and to develop her skills and confidence as a parent. The bank worker will encourage participation in daily skills in and out of the home, continue the great therapy work that Jennifer and her team have achieved so far and alongside Jennifer discover activities and events that you both can experience together. For further information please speak to Gillian, who has met with this truly charming lady.
