Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in custom built laboratories within the Environmental Sciences Group of Smithers Viscient. Based in Harrogate we are currently recruiting for Lab Technicians and Chemists within Environmental Fate. You will be involved in performing the day to day laboratory phase of the studies to investigate the fate and behaviour of (14C)-test compounds in plants, soil, sediment and water. Main duties will include extraction and chromatographic analysis of soil, sediment, water and plant samples, conduct of radiochemical purity checks on (14C)-test compounds, development of analytical methods and isolation and identification of metabolites. Responsibilities of your role may vary dependant on qualifications and relevant experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Typically educated to BSc/MSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a related subject. Experience of analytical techniques such as Radiochemical Quantitation/HPLC/LC-MS in the Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical or CRO industry.

Excellent IT skills, motivation, communication and organizational skills. Relevant practical experience is preferred.
