We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join us in our new, state of the art clinical training centre based in our offices in Croxley Business Park. Your role will be to provide laboratory support for health care professionals and Smith & Nephew colleagues attending surgical training at the Expert Connect Centre
Main duties/responsibilities
· Ensuring that the surgical training sessions are delivered to meet the needs of the customers and the business, including station set-up, provision of all laboratory requirements and practical assistance during training
· Responsible for all activities associated with laboratory maintenance including equipment upkeep, specimen care and general laboratory housekeeping duties such as regular deep cleans
· Managing consumables stocks in line with upcoming events and course requirements. Maintaining stock inventories and placing orders. Responsible for managing stocks of personal protective equipment
· Writing and reviewing SOPs and risk assessments
Desired profile
Qualifications & Knowledge
· Experience of working in a laboratory, medical or clinic research environment is required
· Experience of working with health care professionals, particularly in a surgical setting, would be highly beneficial
· Awareness of health and safety precautions in handling biological materials is required
· Experience of managing stock levels within a lab environment.
