Job description
Smile is one of Europe’s largest open source IT service provider due to growth we have room for a Support Engineer, are you the one we are looking for?
As a Support Engineer, you are, together with your colleagues, responsible for correctly solving and dealing with 1st line incidents and change requests from our customers.
During the solving process you keep the customer informed of the progress of the tasks.
Besides dealing with incidents and change requests you will manage our Dedicated Hosting environment and our Smile Managed Cloud.
You are also, together with the team, responsible for the professionalization of the service desk.
Support Engineer - The function
- Register and classify incidents coming from the service desk and from the monitoring tools on basis of their priorities.
- Offer 1st line system and application support to the customers.
- Monitor the progress of the registered notifications according to the SLA.
- Preparation of requested reports.
- Transfer the more complex customers’ enquiries / issues to colleagues from the 2nd line support.
Maintenance of the Dedicated Hosting and Cloud environment.- You are part of a 24/7 standby service.
Support Engineer - The job description
- Minimum 2 years experience with building and maintaining complex, Linux based hosting environments.
- Relevant experience with techniques and tools such as the different Linux distributions, Apache and Nginx, MySQL, Postgres, LXC, KVM, OpenStack, Nagios, Bash, and Puppet.
- You have experience in developing and supporting PHP applications.
- You are flexible and can work under pressure; you enjoy working in a dynamic work environment.
You have good social and communication skills; you are fluent in Dutch and English (speaking and writing levels). French is a plus!- You are able to communicate on different levels within our organisation and within the customers’ organisations.
