Job description

Siemens small gas turbine manufacturing company, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd, has existed on its present site in Lincoln for over 50 years. Lincoln is the base for the design and manufacture of world class gas turbines for applications within the Oil and Gas Industry and Industrial Power Generation (cogeneration).

Today the Lincoln business employs around 1200 people and is a major exporter with more than 3300 units sold operating in 89 countries. Lincoln provides its customers with expertise covering all aspects of industrial power plant technology including; research and development; engineering;manufacturing; project management and lifetime product support. The business has won eight Queen’s Awards for Industry – five for Export, two for Technology and one for Environmental Technology associated with their world-leading Dry Low Emissions combustion technology. The business continues to invest heavily in Research and Development in all areas, but particularly to improve efficiency, further reduce emissions and to widen the range of fuels that can be used.

The Role

The role will be within the Manufacturing EngineeringGroup supporting the selection & implementation of new machine tools to support the drive for efficient manufacturing, driving cost & lead time down. Including a myriad of projects to enhance & resolve issues with the existing machine tool stock.

Training & Development

The business offers a 2 year graduate programme tailored to this manufacturing role enabling a good solid understanding of the complex business that manufacturing is in the heart off.

Where appropriate also including the training & experience necessary to support the membership of institutes such as the Institute of Mechanical Engineers leading to charter ship.

Minimum Educational Requirements

Engineering related degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering) 2.2 classification or above would be considered for candidates with relevant personal characteristics.

Skills

A highly motivated person with a ‘can do’ attitude who is results orientated and has a positive approach to work and their personal life. This person will need excellent interpersonal skills, will be confident in communicating at all levels and will posses excellent presentation and leadership skills.

Experience

We will be looking for evidence of activities carried out during university vacations and if a year out has been taken we will look for a demonstration of initiative.
