Job Description
About Us
Shell Trading integrates a worldwide trading network with an unsurpassed global portfolio in crude oil, refined products, natural gas, electrical power, and chemicals and has larger locations in London, Houston, Calgary, Singapore, Dubai, Rotterdam, and Barbados. Shell Trading is one of the world largest energy traders and is a key segment of the Royal Dutch/Shell portfolio. The competitive, regulatory and supply/demand landscape for gas, power and environmental products continues to change; and therefore, the integration of Marketing & Trading in increasingly liquid markets has become a competitive pre-requisite.
About our team & what we do:
Shell Energy Europe (SEE) sells and actively trades energy related products and services associated with European natural gas, power, and environmental products globally. It is a fully integrated Marketing and Trading business with a sharp focus on deal flow and the bottom line.
The business seeks to generate a high level of sustainable total value to the Shell Group, year on year, within a three-to-five-year time horizon.
The Trading Strategy and market development team is responsible for developing deep insights into natural gas, power and environmental products structures and market trends. The team uses this knowledge to identify scalable opportunities working together with SEE commercial teams and drives the development and optimisation of specific portfolio strategies and actions, to create value and competitive advantage.
What you'll do:
Your prime focus will be to identify business development opportunities for the environmental products trading and origination team, with an emphasis on material and sustainable contributions in a rapidly evolving business area, often in challenging regulatory and legal environments.
Your accountabilities are as follows:
• Provide commercial teams with market and competitive insights that can be translated into value creation and profitable transactions.
• Evaluate commercial opportunities, analyse risks and sensitivities and project future market behaviour. Leverage various databases and news feeds to extract the information relevant for the analysis. Establish
credibility of the analysis by being very rigorous and organized around the development of these models, performing quality checks and building a track record of strong reliability.
• Identify new business opportunities and engage commercial teams in developing concrete plans to pursue
them.
• Contribute to large strategy projects within own business unit and across the Shell group
• Participate in development, evaluation and negotiation of deals with strategic importance to the business (including M&A).
