Are you looking for a full time Speech and Language Therapist Assistant role in London?
About the role
You will be responsible for delivery of effective Speech and Language Therapy services across multiple sites for adults residing in secure units who present learning disabilities and complex needs.
To contribute to the high standards of person centred care provided within Sequence Care Group, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous individual.
You will possess the core skills necessary to carry out a more specialised role within a secure unit catering for adults with dual diagnosis and complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementation and evaluation of SLT treatment programmes and related tasks/duties which have been identified and delegated by the SLT and where appropriate qualified clinical services team.
- Fully support and encompass all elements of the service user’s daily structure and routine including care plans as identified by the Unit Manager.
- Complete SLT specific assessments under guidance of the SLT.
- To plan and provide programmes of therapeutic activities within a framework recommended by the SLT.
- To manage and prioritise caseload which has been delegated by SLT and unit Manager as an autonomous SLTA.
- The assistant will apply a flexible approach in the interest of promoting an exceptional standard of client care across a 5 day period.
- To have the ability to work without direct supervision in Sequence Care Group secure units delivering patient programmes adhering to local and national professional standards whilst keeping the SLT informed.
- To be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies (e.g. Social services, Voluntary agencies) ensuring that effective communication and liaison takes place at all times.
- To have an interest and knowledge base of Speech and Language Therapy and its application within this specialist setting.
- To have some relevant experience (within SLT, LD or secure settings) in a clinical area or to be working to/have achieved NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Rehabilitation, a degree or B Tech.
Location: North London.
