Job description

Our client, a major manufacturer based in Desford with a globally recognised brand, has just made available an opportunity for an Industrial Manufacturing Engineer to join their team.  The Building Construction Products team is dedicated to the assembly of small construction machines, typically used on building and construction sites - Backhoe Loaders, Mini Hydraulic Excavators and Compact Wheel Loaders.

Key Responsibilities of the Industrial Manufacturing Engineer

  • Responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation through the continued timing and analysis of processes and procedures with the aim of increasing efficiency
  • Coordinate process changes to provide the most efficient and economical assembly of quality parts
  • Ensures optimum utilisation of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements
  • Establishes standards and work methods with management and shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc
  • Keeps abreast of industry changes by attending product demonstrations and identifies ongoing improvements in processes and technologies to better serve customers
  • Provides training, development and motivation for a staff capable of completing objectives and implementing cost reduction projects and meeting requirements of the manufacturing/assembly process
  • Confronts complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis


Qualifications and Experience required for the Industrial Manufacturing Engineer role

  • Institute of management services qualification
  • Technical or university degree in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering related field, previous supervisory experience and significant industrial engineering experience
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of the planning system, manufacturing operations, facilities, methods and tooling required
  • Analytical ability as well as communication skills is essential
  • Production planning and line balancing experience required
