SPR is responsible for the development, construction and operation of the Group’s renewable projects in the UK and is also responsible for the development, construction and operation of the Group’s offshore wind projects internationally.

DESCRIPTION
Working within the SPR Site Operations Team the role holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical guidance and planning support on all Service and Maintenance (S&M) related matters associated with wind turbine technology, in order to support the optimisation of operational performance of the wind turbines.

Accountabilities

- Development of specific S&M processes and documentation related to wind turbine technology, for inclusion within the SPR Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Development of internal turbine maintenance task specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Instructions associated with turbine technology to provide a greater degree of S&M flexibility
- Accountable for the formal review of externally submitted S&M related documentation and establishing if such documentation is acceptable for implementation on SPR projects in accordance with external legislative and SPR IMS requirements
- Provision of specialist wind turbine technical input to the development, and ongoing management, of the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and associated supporting documentation
- Proactive identification and implementation of projects and initiatives aimed at improving the reliability, maintainability and operability of the wind turbines across the SPR operational portfolio
- Provide technical input to the SPR design modification process as part of the approval process for in-house, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third party proposed turbine modifications
- Participate in turbine component and system failure analysis using recognised industry techniques such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), as defined by the S&M Manager
- As Subject Matter Expert, provide support and guidance to all functions within the SPR Site Operations Team in relation to performance optimisation
- Assist with the identification of Site Operations Team Turbine S&M related technical training requirements, and where practicable deliver internal training in this area for the defined technology group
- Assist with identifying, sourcing and managing required parts, materials and tools to support the SPR S&M Strategy and enact the role of ‘Requisitioner’ for these items where agreed
- Directly manage and co-ordinate local S&M resources to deliver the day-to-day S&M requirements where required in accordance with the SPR Wind Turbine S&M Strategy
- Provide support to the Service and Maintenance Manager and the Site Operations Manager in the development of turbine S&M related contract documentation to optimise SPR’s commercial position
- Deputise where required for the Service and Maintenance Manager on matters relating to Turbine Service and Maintenance

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

- Have an in-depth technical knowledge of turbine technology
- Strong practical experience of electro-mechanical generating plant and apparatus gained within aSupervisory position
- Experience in core service and maintenance practices associated with the relevant technology group, including fault finding and major component exchanges.
- Educated to HND level or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical related discipline
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of working under Company Safety Rules or equivalent 'rule based' systems
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change, whilst showing a high degree of self-motivation.
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as a minimum
- Experience of implementing maintenance planning and control systems
- Have a solid commercial awareness associated with windfarm operations and the ability to relate this understanding to technical decisions in order to optimise commercial performance
- Have an aptitude to understand electrical and mechanical technical drawings, operating and maintenance manuals

MINIMUM CRITERIA

- Educated to HND level or equivalent in electrical, mechanical or multi-discipline or relevant experience
- Experience of working in a turbine maintenance and operational environment
- Ability to work at heights and within enclosed spaces on a frequent basis
- Ability to travel unrestricted to sites across the SPR portfolio as required
- Good level of physical fitness (successful candidate will be required to pass a fitness test for ascending wind turbines)
