Schneider-Electric's Global Supply Chain team has an opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role of Manufacturing Engineering Intern in our Columbia, MO location in January 2020. The qualified candidate will be working under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to assist in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing improvement projects that support our Schneider Production System (SPS).

What you might do in this position:

· Collect process data
· Conduct time studies of processes
· Participate and implement 5S projects
· Technical writing
· Root cause analysis of production issues
· Candidates will be responsible for independently working on projects and meeting deadlines
· Candidates will be implementing lean manufacturing and six sigma projects
· Design or modify existing tooling or fixtures
· Recommend new technology to update current processes
· Troubleshoot production equipment
· Kaizen events
· 6 Sigma Projects
· VSM events
· Material Productivity Savings Projects
· Integrate new technology into department (SPC, MIS, WEB based, etc)
· Employ Kanban & Workstation Design Principles to support production lines
· Monitoring Area KPI's & Barriers
· Create & Edit Work Instructions

Qualifications :

This job might be for you if:

·  You're currently enrolled in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree program. Sophomore or Junior status preferred.
·  You have classroom knowledge and/or experience in lean manufacturing principles and concepts preferred.
·  You are a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
·  You pay close attention to accuracy and detail
·  Have great communication skills and the ability to work with all functions and departments throughout our facility and otherwise.
·  You have computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access - other software or design experience will be helpful.
·  You are able to work full time hours during the summer and part time during the school year - primarily first shift hours.
