Project Design Leader – Video Door Entry System

Job description

This position is reporting to the Offer Development Manager and is responsible for the technical leadership, coordination and development of offers and liaison with relevant parties (internal and external) in order to successfully maintain existing and create new products to industry leading standards.

This role also involves maintaining existing designs, products evolution and supporting technical queries from product management, internal, external customers and suppliers.

This is an important role within the engineering function, with specific responsibility for the development of new products and supporting existing products involving different people coming from internal and external or even crossing countries.

The position is generally autonomous and requires a strong interface within the BU and more broadly with various departments, outside customers & suppliers within the local & other entities. The role is balanced between products development and technical contribution.

Desired profile

Education:

Essential

· Degree in Engineering or similar

Desirable

· Master degree or above in Computer Science / Telecom / EE or related major

Job Related Experience:

Essential :

· 5+ years embedded Linux development

· 3+ years experience on development of analog & digital video door entry systems

· 3+ years co-development experience with vendors / suppliers

· 2+ years of project management

· Solid development experience of telecom protocol, for examples: SIP, RTP, TCP/IP…

· Solid experience on running Agile or Scrum development process

· Basic knowledge of project planning and design flow of consumer type products

· Basic knowledge of hardware design such as RS485, SPI, I 2 C, video / audio circuits, IP camera, LAN…

· Familiarity with Mantis, JIRA or similar bug tracking system

Desirable :

· Experience of products development of Smart Home, lighting control network, C-bus, KNX, DALI or IP

· Familiarity with ClearCase or similar version control system

· Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS), mechanism of elevators/lifts or surveillance system

· Experience on development of Android / iOS APPs

· Basic knowledge of basic mechanical design such as plastic parts & finishing

· Experience with development products under PMP framework

Business Understanding:

Interaction with internal and external customers, liaison across multiple functional areas.

Others (e.g. language skills, technical skills) :

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English & Mandarin

· Good communication skills with all levels of the organization

· Willing to communicate with all levels of the organization

· Solid experience of product specification, documentation and development, preferably in a Product Engineering environment

· Open minded, energetic, proactive & team player

· Results oriented, business sense & able to address issues interlace with different vendors / suppliers,
