Power Systems Engineering Lead - 004TH5 North America Operations - Power Systems and Services (Calgary, Alberta, Mississauga, Ontario or Montreal, QC)


The Department Lead provides effective leadership and technical support to a team of engineers, technologists and designers in creating engineering designs, developing power system studies, and in the testing, commissioning and ongoing support of projects.

W hat do you get to do in this position?

· Incorporating business strategy into developing the team.
· Meeting business objectives, coaching and developing team members as well as managing internal and external customer expectations within a challenging base cost/culture change environment.
· Remotely managing a geographically diverse technical team across Canada, if required.
· Providing leadership, coaching, technical direction and quality control for the team and assigned projects.
· Working with Solutions Sales team to qualify customer needs and presenting potential power system analysis solutions.
· Ensuring positive actions are taken to encourage the training, growth and professional development of engineering services personnel directly reporting to this position.
· Maintaining a balanced workload plan for the team.
· Interpreting, applying, and guiding the team in applicable industry standards as well as regulatory codes and regulations.
· Building solid business relationships with all stakeholders (i.e. Sales, Application Centers, Services, Legal, Finance, Risk Management, Purchasing).
· Being willing to travel nationally (approximately 10% of the time).
· Actively participating in QMS and HSE programs.
· Using the required processes and procedures to execute work.
· Reporting any existing or potential safety and QMS nonconformities to a supervisor, Quality Manager or HSE Coordinator.
· Maintaining a clean work area through daily housekeeping, as required.
· Other duties, as agreed.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

T his job might be for you if:
1) Bachelor degree or higher in Engineering – Electrical, Electronic or Communication
2) Professional Engineer membership (P.Eng.) with a recognized association of professional engineers in Canada
3) 10+ years of progressive technical experience in power distribution systems with evidence of strong subject mater expertise on feasibility study, FEED, detailed design & power system study.
4) managerial experience with evidence of success in managing a group of technical staff is a plus
5) Working with other team members, contractors and consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure the quality and integrity of engineering design executions
6 ) Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
7 ) Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as with customers
8 ) Adopting a customer-centric approach by measuring processes and performance through the customer's perspective and in fostering and promoting good customer relations
9 ) Effective team building and problem-solving abilities
10 ) Working under pressure and with short lead times
11 ) Bilingual in English and French (an asset)
