The Schneider Electric Water Wastewater Competency Center specializes in the design and construction of Square D medium voltage switchgear products. These products are applied to distribute utility and generator power in water wastewater installations.

We are excited to offer the following opportunity in Smyrna, TN:

Mechanical Engineer

This position is responsible for designing enclosures, assemblies and structures for our medium voltage products, implementing designs, and supporting product introduction to manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for various mechanical engineering activities related to products manufactured at the Smyrna, Tennessee location.

Responsibilities

Creation of (3D) parametric models needed for the development of bus, barriers, supports, sheet metal parts and assemblies

Application knowledge in medium voltage switchgear or other power distribution equipment

Detailed knowledge of principles in mechanical engineering to assess feasibility of design options

Design and modeling of parts given conceptual information from engineering team and Customers

Creation of bills of material in order to meet custom applications

Desired profile

* 1-3 years of relevant engineering work experience (new graduates will be considered)

* 3D Modeling experience - preference given to those candidates with Inventor/ProE

* BSME degree preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* A great work ethic, along with high energy and a positive attitude, high degree of self organization

* Strong approach to teamwork working as an individual contributor or in a team environment in collaboration with various groups

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a flexible and changing/demanding environment
