Schneider Electric has a great opportunity for the right two people to join our Scarborough team as Engineering Technical Apprentices.
This is a four year electrical/mechanical engineering apprenticeship with on the job training and day release at college to BTEC NVQ qualification and HNC dependent on business needs and/or individual's ability. Applicants should be aspiring to a career in electrical/mechanical engineering in a role to support our assembly and manufacturing business. This role is not as a site electrician.
Our apprentice roles offer a great opportunity to gain qualifications alongside real work experience in the shop floor assembly, manufacturing, maintenance, inspection / test & supply chain environments. These positions will give you hands-on, practical experience. During the apprenticeship, you will have the chance to understand not only the business you work within but the wider Schneider business too.
Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship you will receive support from your manager and colleagues. However, there is a real expectation that you will be able to sustain a good level of performance in your studies along with learning about and gaining a good understanding of our business.
Learning doesn't only happen at college, you will have lots to learn within the workplace too. You will need to ensure all your course work is completed by the stipulated deadline. At times this will mean you will need to complete assignments or course work in your own time. Punctuality is a priority for our business so you will need to ensure that you are on time for college and work.

Mission:
To undertake a technical apprenticeship in electrical / mechanical engineering; this will lead to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation.
Responsibilities:
· To complete a programme of ‘on the job' training in manufacturing workshop, supply chain & assembly environments.
· To undertake further/higher education in either electrical or mechanical disciplines on a day release basis.
· To embrace and play a pro-active role in SPS systems and activities and support improvement projects.
· To play an active role in maintaining appropriate 5S standards.
· To work in a safe manner, showing due regard for own and others safety in line with Schneider Electric policies.
· Adherence to Schneider Electric processes and procedures in all aspects of work.
· To assist in the training and development of others as appropriate.
· To provide instruction and advice commensurate with training completed.
· To communicate and liaise with other functions.
Overtime working as required meeting the needs of the business upon attainment of appropriate age.
As part of the learning process Site working, along with visits to other Schneider plants may occasionally be required. These will be under supervision.

Qualifications :
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent), at Grade A* to C including Maths (must be higher paper) , English and a science related subject.
Experience/Knowledge
No prerequisite experience required but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobby interests.
Skills
Demonstrable interest in engineering discipline.
To be IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately to high standards
Aptitude for practical science or engineering skills

The role will be based in Scarborough working 37.5 hours per week.
