Our Melbourne CBD-based team is seeking a Commodity Analyst to work on the Global Research & Analytics (GRA) team which serves our local and global clients. This entry level role will:
· Support the Global Research & Analytics team members through contributing to client deliverables including market analyses, research Outlooks, and ad-hoc projects
· Become a subject matter expert in Australian electricity and gas markets, providing insight to our clients regarding forecasts, risks, and drivers, and interacting with clients to deliver results for consulting engagements and ongoing services.
· Gain exposure to our market modelling efforts with the GRA team members, using complex statistical analysis and experience in managing/mining large data sets. Begin to build programming capabilities in R and Matlab.
· Interact with and monitor internal and external information sources for energy market-related material and data.
Whilst we do not want to narrow the field, we do believe the successful candidate will possess a Bachelor Degree in Maths, Statistics, Economics or Business. Ideally you will have gained some exposure to statistical methods and forecasting models ideally within the Energy space. In addition, you will have impeccable attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex analysis and ideas in a concise manner. Equally critical will be your energy, curiosity, customer focus and ability to collaborate extensively whilst remaining a selfless and committed team player.
