Job description

Essential Duties:

· Performs all tasks assigned to a Data Center Technician 1.

· Partner with Data Center Engineer to plan for and provision appropriate data center IT equipment space, power, and cooling requirements and requests.

· Completes QA Checklist and close out the Data Center Installation/De-installation Request.

· Provide Smart Hands to perform IT Hardware Trouble shooting and Restoration of Services under systems administration direction.

· Directly support and complete all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) – Installation, Labeling, Power/Network Connectivity – Cabling

· Responsible for IT Hardware Server Projects.

· Provide input to the Data Center Engineer regarding Data Center service availability, performance, capacity utilization as required

· Maintain a safe, clean and secure operating environment within the data center and report any violations to their immediate supervisor

· Maintain site security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures

· Support standard and emergency operating procedures for data center

· Detailed and thorough documentation and record keeping

· Able to review, organize, prioritize, and complete work from a Work Order Ticketing System
All other duties as assigned

Desired profile

Qualifications :

· Technical Certification or equivalent work experience (2 to 3 years' experience) working in a data center

· Intermediate knowledge of (Windows and UNIX (AIX, LINUX, Solaris) SSH, RDP, Putty) is preferred

· Intermediate knowledge of Mainframe (zOS/MVS/JES, Tape Subsystems) is preferred

· Intermediate Hands on experience working with IT Infrastructure (Racks, Powers Strips, Servers, Network Hardware)

· Intermediate working knowledge of copper and fiber infrastructure installation and testing

· Intermediate knowledge of data center building infrastructure (CRACS, GENS, PDUs, UPS)

· Intermediate knowledge of electrical concepts (Power Distribution, Redundancy, Power Cabling)

· Intermediate knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management tools

· Must be able to work at heights, using a ladder and in confined spaces, lift and/or move 50 to 75 lbs.

· Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones

· Works On call and OT as required.

o Minimum of one week per month of on call

· Able to work in a 24/7 environment with flexible shifts/days
