Job description

Schneider Electric Energy Application Center is presently seeking an Automation Solutions Engineer. In this sales-support position, the main role is to support the country sales force with technical expertise as well as be a resource to the customer as we architect solutions based on customer expectations and present it to the customer.

Automation Engineer (Substation, Renewables, DCS)

We are currently looking for an Automation Solutions Engineer with the following competencies and skills to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Responsibilities:

Support a queue of open opportunities from the sales force.

Reviewing the above mentioned opportunities and architect solutions.

Communicate with the sales force to explain derived solutions and/or provide alternatives.

Support the proposals team on opportunities they are quoting.

A day out of the office could involve travelling to consult with customers and provide resolutions to any current issues.

Attend trade shows and conferences as part of a Schneider booth or as a participant of the event.

Desired profile

Experience Requirements

·  5+ years experience in substation protection and control systems
· 5+ years experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, etc) and distributed generation control systems
· 5+ years experience in process automation and distributed control systems (DCS)
· Electric utility knowledge
· Electric power management applications (EMCS/PMS) for Oil & Gas and industry segments)

Proven technical expertise in the following areas:

Substation automation (advanced)

Microgrids and distributed generation (advanced)

Communications and networking infrastructure (advanced)

Process automation distributed control system - DCS (basic)

IEC61850, DNP3.0 and familiar with legacy communication protocols (advanced)

Renewables energy applications related to control and monitoring, wind, solar, hydro (medium)

Distribution / feeder automation, overhead and underground, including VVO, cap bank control and others (medium)

Remote terminal unit knowledge (medium)

NERC-CIP Cyber Security knowledge, asset management, etc (basic)

Protective Relaying (basic)

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

Outstanding Leadership & Listening Skills (to collaborate with internal channels and identify solution for customer)

Work cooperatively in a team environment

Able to learn new technical skills and assume new responsibilities

Open to adjust to a changing Environment (Schneider Electric is a progressive company constantly moving, merging and acquiring ahead of the current pace of our Industry)

Strong Analytical skills- commercial understanding of customer needs (customer"s asset management) & technical problem solving skills

Customer focus & Customer Care is extremely important

Excellent communication skills - verbal & written

Bilingual skills a plus (Spanish is an asset)

Available to travel up to 60% of the time

Education Requirements

Bachelors in Science, Engineering, Systems, Electrical or equivalent
