We are seeking highly self-motivated, customer focused, team oriented Application Design Engineer to work on our projects to create a consistency across all projects by utilizing processes that can be repeatable between projects.
Role Purpose
Provides engineering support for several projects; Acts in a lead capacity on projects of varying sizes, complexities and risks. Is accountable for developing technical and professional (customer-facing) capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Interprets customer technical specs and assists customer in defining detailed application, system, and hardware requirements
- Review as sold system architecture and make corrections as necessary
- Review BOM – hardware and software
- Confirm software licensing is correct
- Prepares packaging specifications
- Works with 3rd party vendors to ensure compatibility with Shneider Electric's solution
- Create system interconnection diagram
- Provide support for upgrades
- Assists with basic on-site engineering, including: start-up and application commissioning and hardware assembly
- Participates in customer acceptance and application testing
- Reviews Associate Application Engineers' work to ensure quality and accuracy
- Interfaces with EEC resources to ensure high-quality and accurate deliverables
- Anticipates potential changes in project deliverables and timing and makes the PM aware of a potential need to re-contract or secure additional engineering resources
- Increases project margins by minimizing re-work and complying with Schneider Electric's technical engineering processes and quality standard
- Understand what files need to be transferred from original system, if any, during upgrades
- Understand what files, scripts, programs on existing stations need to be updated to run on new system
- Review as sold competitive migration hardware and software with SME
- Develop detailed project execution plan for system engineer scope
- Provide input for project enclosure design as needed
- Define staging layout
- Coordinate system staging team activities
- Perform system software installation and configuration
- Attend customer meetings and participate on system related discussions
- Develop system test plan and execute internal and customer testing (FAT)
- Participate in on-site testing/SAT and commissioning activities as required
- Support PM, Field Service and customer on wide range of system related items as required
- Provide support of our local cloud and deployment of software upgrades as required
- Execute full scope projects
Desired profile
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Electrical preferred)
- 10 or more years of experience with Distributed Control Systems (Foxboro I/A preferred)
- Experience in architecting, constructing and integrating the software applications and networking systems for process automation.
- Project experience with the following areas of project engineering: functional and detailed specifications, systems development, implementation, testing and commissioning.
