The IT Administrator and System Engineer works on-site at a proton therapy treatment center as part of a team of around 10 engineers to install, maintain, and operate the proton therapy system (PTS).
The focus is on administration of the IT infrastructure, and software testing, debugging, configuration, and upgrades. In addition, this individual will become certified to operate the PTS during patient treatment, and will be qualified to debug basic issues that arise in any component of the system (including electrical and mechanical issues).
As an IT Administrator/ System Engineer, your responsibilities will be to:
- Administrate Linux servers, and Linux/Windows workstations

- regularly monitor servers to ensure preventable problems do not arise, maintain backups, and respond promptly when functionality is lost
- Administrate network

- manage hosts, debug issues, and ensure proper use
- Administrate SQL database (Oracle and Postgres)

- add and remove database entries as needed, and query the database for debugging purposes
- Test and debug clinical software

- play test procedures, perform detailed log analyses as necessary, and read source code to determine root causes
- Install, upgrade, and configuration clinical software

- add software functionality in a careful, timely manner, and understand details of the configuration
- Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment

- all engineers on site must become qualified to operate the system and troubleshoot basic issues that arise outside of their area of expertise, including electrical and mechanical issues
- Create and present training material

- ensure that all members of the team have basic training on IT aspects of the system.
As an IT Administrator/ System Engineer,
you have:
- A Master degree (preferably in electronics and automation) or an equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Linux/Windows;
- Intermediate knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Intermediate Java and C/C++ programming knowledge
- An experience with Clearcase and Subversion software repositories or similar
- A Networking experience (administration of switches, firewalls, DNS, debugging, etc.);
- Basic SQL knowledge
- Good communication skills, to convey test results and for training
- Basic understanding of circuits and electrical work, and experience with basic maintenance of mechanical equipment
- A good experience in operating complex systems
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English
- Very good knowledge of Russian
