SAP Next-Gen Lab at Hudson Yards New York
As part of SAP’s new office at 10 Hudson Yards in New York City, a majority of one of the SAP floors will be dedicated to SAP University Alliances running a SAP Next-Gen lab in collaboration with the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI). Leading universities in New York (Columbia, NYU, Cornell Tech, etc.) will also be participating as part of UA’s growing academic innovation network in New York.
The goals of the SAP Next-Gen lab are to:
· Further associate the SAP brand with technology innovation , especially in the minds of young people which in turn will help SAP recruit top early talent, expand the pool of SAP ready early talent to help customers and partners accelerate their digital transformations, and inspire student startups to build on SAP HANA;
· Drive co-innovation with customers by connecting them in an inspiring space with bright young minds who can develop innovative design concepts and prototype apps that point the way to the digital transformation of the top industries in New York and beyond including financial services, health care, real estate, fashion, mass media/journalism, publishing and the arts, and more;
· Have SAP recognized as a leader in the innovation and startup scene in New York (“Silicon Alley”);
· Provide customers with an especially strong pool of SAP HANA consultants from among HPI graduates who can help customers accelerate realizing value from their investments in HANA;
· Be the home for an international association of d.schools , including the d.school at Stanford, University of Cape Town, etc. including the space will be a hub for engagement with the German Center for Research and Innovation (sponsored by the German government);
· Provide the cornerstone for a strong collaboration among HPI and universities in New York with the Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG) New York Chapter.
The SAP Next-Gen lab will include a SAP/HPI Welcome and Coffee Area , including a SAP Next-Gen Consulting / HPI branding shop, a Next-Gen Makers Space, a Next-Gen Designers Space , a Next-Gen Entrepreneurs Space , a Next-Gen Innovators Space , a HPI Research Hub , and a SAP HANA Consultants Space including a Big Data visualization wall for data science. The Next-Gen lab will have access to shared event space on the same floor.
UA will staff and operate the SAP Next-Gen Lab in collaboration with HPI. Activities will include:
· Ongoing engagement and use of the spaces by students, student startups, ASUG members and SAP customers and partners from around the world, HPI researchers, and HPI HANA consultants;
· 2 to 3 evening events per week, establishing SAP as a strong player in the evening innovation meet-up culture in New York, and showcasing the spaces as a vibrant hub for student led co-innovation with a strong presence of HPI together with students from Columbia, NYU, Cornell Tech, and other universities;
· Innovation tours for SAP customers and prospects, in which SAP Account Executives who have customers visiting the separate SAP Executive Briefing Center (EBC) can also bring their visitors to the SAP Next-Gen lab to get inspired to begin innovation projects with the students and seed innovation from student startups into their digital transformation plans.
Desired profile
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
· The primary focus of the SAP University Alliances Hudson Yards New York – internship (“UA HY Intern”) will be setting up and operating the new SAP Next-Gen lab at SAP Hudson Yards New York. The UA HY Intern will support the Operations Manager
· The UA HY Intern will align with both the Head of Global SAP UA as well as the HY Operations Manager in facilitating events, expanding the New York academic innovation network
· The UA HY Intern will support executing the operations of the SAP Next-Gen lab.
· Collaborate with other UA colleagues in planning and executing events in which the SAP Next-Gen lab will be featured, for example SAP New York innovation tours for SAP customers, SAP Academic Conferences, etc.
· Support the Head of Global SAP UA in any other way needed to drive success of the SAP Next-Gen lab.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Knowledge of SAP preferred
· Studies in partner development, customer service, project management, event planning, budgeting and reporting, and staff recruitment and development.
· Fluent in English with excellent communication skills. Strong skills with MS Office suite. (Fluency in German a plus)
Preferred skills
· Degree concentrations in management, business administration, economics/finance, information systems, and/or marketing preferred.
