PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS) is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art data centers and the technical platforms as integral part and foundation for all SAP Cloud solutions and services around the globe. 
The Cloud Infrastructure Services unit provides these shared services for SAP’s external Cloud Business and also for SAP’s internal infrastructure such as development, training, or demo landscapes.

Within CIS and among other responsibility, the Infrastructure Build organization is globally responsible to fulfill the demand for Infrastructure capacities in the various Data Centers and hand it over to the consumers of the Infrastructure and to the Infrastructure Run organization. The Infrastructure Build is set up in regional units.

Desired profile

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

 

The Infrastructure Product Build Consultant supports the coordination of the build of a defined Infrastructure capacity (product) in a defined Data Center. An infrastructure product consists of servers, network, storage, back up and peripheral equipment. The product build is finished when all from HW procurement, physical installation in the Data Center, configuration of the Infrastructure and handover to consumer including acceptance is done. The work includes support for

·  all planning and validation of the build
·  the coordination, the driving and tracking / reporting of the different build execution steps
·  the successful handover to consumer in time, expected costs and in quality.
·  Project Management office tasks like reporting, problem management, support for capacity inventory management.

The role will work closely together with experience build managers and experts from other Infrastructure teams.

 

Additional tasks are:

·  Close collaboration with the other Infrastructure teams
·  Work along the rules defined and the tools given by Infrastructure build governance

 

The role reports to the Americas Head of Infrastructure build.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

 

Required skills

·  Knowledge of methods and tools of product build in IT or other industries (e.g. manufacture, construction)
·  Basic IT knowledge
·  Consumer / customer orientation, high quality of work focus and result / deliverable oriented thinking
·  Ability to work in a globally distributed organization and eagerness to work with people of other cultures
·  Fluent Business English

 

Preferred skills

·  Specific IT Infrastructure knowledge in 1 or more of Server, network, storage/back up
·  Good communication skills
