We are:
A text analysis team that combines the talents of computational linguists and skilled software engineers to deliver best-of-breed text analysis capabilities in all major languages. Our strategic focus is the development of natural-language processing (NLP) functionality for the SAP Foundation for Health, the central component of our newly formed product unit for healthcare. This platform will function as an integration point for many diverse health-related applications and will form the base of SAP's solutions for personalized medicine.
You are:
A computational linguist in Cambridge, MA working on healthcare-focused NLP components in multiple languages, with initial focus on English, French and German.
Your Role:

You would implement new functionality in the healthcare space
·
You would create, maintain and augment machine-readable dictionaries, grammar rules and parsing algorithms
·
Develop and maintains tools for the automation and support of linguistic tasks
·
Enhance the accuracy of our technologies in line with established quality metrics
· Optimize the performance of core engines to achieve breakthrough results
Basic Qualifications:
·
A Bachelor's in Computational Linguistics or related degree
·
Native or near-native knowledge of French or German, in addition to English
·
At least 2 yrs. of work experience with regex languages and finite state automata for NLP applications
·
Understanding of statistical approaches to NLP (e.g., Bayesian algorithms, HMMs, SVMs, supervised or unsupervised learning)
·
Experience developing named entity recognition functionality or in-depth knowledge of other text-based linguistic applications
·
Experience working in a production-oriented development environment
· Strong background in syntax and morphology
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Masters in Computational Linguistics or related degree
·
You have hands-on experience with medical NLP functionality
·
You have worked with Agile/SCRUM development processes
·
Proficient in at least one data manipulation language (Perl or Python preferred)
·
Familiarity with UNIX® environments
