PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Data Warehouse market is a 12 billion dollar segment with a double digit growth per year. With SAP HANA as a super fast database SAP is in a top position to seize a significant share of this segment. SAP BW is already today the SAP product with the most HANA customers and thus showing the potential of the “powered by SAP HANA” statement for Data Warehousing. But there is also a large potential to cover the part of the Data Warehousing segment that is closed to or very hard to penetrate by SAP BW where Teradata and other database centric approaches dominate. With the HANA-native Data Warehousing Foundation we want to support the adoption of HANA natively as an advanced database to do Data Warehousing.
The HANA Data Warehousing Foundation team builds tools and services that help customers to manage vast amounts of data in HANA consistently, efficiently and enterprise-ready. These services are leveraged not only by customers doing Data Warehousing, but also by SAP and non-SAP applications, like the Suite-on-HANA, Retail solutions, also SAP BW on HANA, and, of course, Big Data scenarios that are growing in number and importance. These tools and services are built directly on HANA on the XSC/XSA platform using JavaScript (and SQL Script) with state-of-the-art UIs based on SAP UI5.
