PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

 

SAP Cloud Platform [SCP] is Open, Industry Standard Platform-as-a-Service offering from SAP. Built on Cloud Foundry[ www.cloudfoundry.org], it is a cloud platform on which you can build new applications, powered by SAP HANA. You can also build application extensions to the existing on premise or cloud solutions.

 

As an integral member of the SAP Cloud Platform Group in Bangalore, India, you will be contributing to service provisioning and development activities for the product SCP, with specialization in SCP Data & Storage Services.

SCP Platform Services – implementing core application services like job scheduler,  Virtual Machine as a Service, building  predictive auto scaling service for applications and open source contributions around these topics

SCP Data & Storage Services – implementing core platform services and provisioning Database as a Service via PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Messaging as a Service via RabbitMQ and Storage as a Service via Redis, Swift and open source contributions towards these topics

SCP Cockpit – building state of the art tools to manage applications and services in SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

 

Own the design, implementation, operation, and support of large-scale databases that are crucial to the successful operation of our Cloud Platform. We are looking for talented, goal oriented, motivated and proactive “hands-on“ database administrators for Postgres and MongoDB with excellent technical, problem solving and communication skills coupled with a willingness to take initiative and champion the cause of SCP adoption via feature roll-outs, sales & pre-sales enablement, product workshops with customers/partners, and technical sessions in internal and external forums.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology, majoring in Computer Science, from a reputed institute, with excellent academic records.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Experience in administering Postgres SQL, MongoDB and  engineering database solutions

Experience in administering and supporting large database fleets[>100] for performance critical, highly available systems on a cloud platform

Experience in creating automation tools for managing relational databases (auditing, account management, backup/restore, discovery, schema deployment)

Experience in conducting performance tuning, backup, recovery,  high availability, scalability, and capacity planning;

Familiarity with a Unix/Linux development environment and ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment

Programming know-how in JAVA/NodeJS/Go/Ruby or in any other language or Expertise with scripting languages such as: Powershell, JavaScript, Python, & Linux Shell Scripting will be a plus

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Goal-oriented team worker with good communication skills. Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Desired profile

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Ownership of operational stability of the databases provisioned on the cloud platform and manage the overall integrity, stability, scalability, and security of the databases

Automizing the management of relational databases (auditing, account management, backup/restore, discovery, schema deployment)

Diagnosing and resolving complex database problems under pressure.

Working closely with the development teams on provisioning the database clusters in the cloud platform with the right configurations for performance, scalability, aduting, monitoring, backup & restore etc

In short, perform the DBA role for the Database as a Service – Postgres/MongoDB

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

2-8 years of experience in the role of DBA or in DBaaS[Database as a Service] provisioning in the cloud
