Windows Patching, Release & Maintenance Execution Engineer

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

SAP SuccessFactors provides the industry leading cloud-based Human Capital Management (HCM) software solutions using the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. The SuccessFactors HCM Suite includes a complete set of tightly integrated talent management solutions, robust workforce analytics and planning, plus a next generation core HR solution. With over 3600 customers and more than twenty million users in 177 countries, SuccessFactors HCM Software is the most adopted Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business software in the world.
SuccessFactors Operation Center in Bangalore is a key location responsible for Operating SAP SuccessFactors HCM Cloud Products.
We are looking for a Release Engineer as part of the Cloud HCM Delivery team who is able to work in a fast paced, high demand environment.
 
Job Description

 Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks
SAP HCM Cloud has around 9 Datacenters globally and multiple internal QA environments. Within these environments around 7 products are hosted. Each product has weekly patches deployed into production environment and ad-hoc emergency patches in critical situations. In addition, every quarter major code changes (releases) have to be pushed into the production datacenters. Daily deployments in QA environments also have to be managed. This job entails a high level of planning and precision considering the nature and criticality of the business. Every deployment should run within the stipulated downtime window which otherwise leads to contractual and legal problems. Also there should be minimal or no disturbance for customer after such an activity. The Release engineer has to ensure clock-precision execution. Considering the magnitude of the business and the complexity of the architecture and environments, it is a very highly demanding job.

Job Specific Competencies & Skills

Product Knowledge
             While a detailed knowledge of SuccessFactors product set is not mandatory, must be prepared to rapidly obtain strong familiarly with core products and technology set

Technical Skills
   Expertise in Windows platform (Windows 2008 R2 and above)
            Basic knowledge in continuous integration and tools used around it
              Good knowledge in power shell scripting needed
       Good knowledge of server manager with expertise on concepts of roles and features
             Strong release management and software logistics skills
             Working knowledge of Database operations (MSSQL)
             Understanding of SaaS Cloud Architecture

 
Experience
Work Experience
At least 5+ of relevant technical and functional experience. Experience working in a Cloud Delivery model is mandatory
 English: Fluent, highly proficient in communicating to customers and external audiences

Work Location - Bangalore

Education
BE - Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree
