Job Description

1. Lead, represent, manage and support cross-functional Technical R&D (TRD) Project Teams (CMC Teams) for multiple projects. Support teams with strong strategic focus, quality awareness, management capabilities, scientific and technical expertise. Foster strong team spirit and promote knowledge exchange within and between teams. Set objectives and priorities for the team(s). Represent TRD in Global Program Teams (GPT). Inspire people within the GPT. Win commitment and steer others to a desired conclusion.
2. Understand and proactively manage the interactions of project related activities between sub functions in TRD and functions external to TRD
3. Formulate and implement a scientifically sound and business driven TRD project strategy including risk assessments and contingency planning as appropriate and in line with overall GPT strategy, involving TRD functional experts. Ensure alignment within TRD sub-functions, other functions outside of TRD and 3rd parties as appropriate. Proactively communicate overall project strategy, status, key issues and any other critical topics in a timely manner to the appropriate management level and/ or to any other relevant project team member(s).
4. Ensure suitable composition of TRD project teams to support assigned project(s) in cooperation with TRD management.
5. Assess, consolidate and negotiate on an on-going basis in TRD all internal and external resource needs as well as timelines for assigned project(s). Ensure overall TRD budget and resource adherence for the assigned project(s). Ensure timely availability of agreed deliverables (e.g. goods, processes, analytical methods, documentation).
6. Facilitate the setting process of technical as well as values & behaviors objectives for the TRD project team. Ensure TRD objectives are in alignment with GPT objectives.
7. Act as deputy of TRD Development Unit Head.
8. Contribute to Development Unit Portfolio strategy.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

•Ph.D. or equivalent preferred
•10+ Years’ experience in Pharmaceutical (Technical/CMC) development preferred. Successfully demonstrated several years (minimum of 3 years) of directly related experience as leader of cross-functional teams. Ophthalmic product development experience is a plus.
•Distinguished R&D leader. Exceptionally broad and in-depth knowledge in the area of expertise and several disciplines.
•Proven key contributions to development projects and marketed products
•Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical development processes.
•Excellent track record to lead interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams
