The Assay Development & High Throughput Screening (AD/HTS) department at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) has an exciting opportunity for a B.S. or M.S. level scientist. In this role you will be part of a highly innovative and multidisciplinary team in early drug discovery. Your primary responsibilities will be to help run our high-content screening core facility, including, but not limited to: setting up and maintaining HCI and automation instrumentation, training researchers, and closely collaborating with disease area partners on assay development of complex disease-relevant cell-based HCI assays. The successful candidate must have a high level of self-motivation, attention to detail, independence, and ability to thrive in a goal and team oriented setting.

Minimum requirements
Requirements:
• B.S. or M.S. in biology, bioengineering, or related areas, and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in cell biology and cell-based assay development
• Experience with high content imaging and image analysis and/or the ability to learn
• Ability to support and train a wide range of users conducting HCS activities
• Ability to leverage multiple software tools relevant to image data workflows, including ability to quickly learn proprietary software
• Fluency and excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills with proven ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
Preferred But Non-Essential Requirements:
• Experience with Opera Phenix and ImageXpress Micro HCI instrumentation
• Experience with ImageJ, CellProfiler, KNIME, & Spotfire software
• Experience with complex cell models, such as primary cells, iPS-derived and 3D cell models, including scale-up
• Experience with automated systems for high throughput screening and associated instruments involved in liquid handling, compound transfer
