Investigator - Biotherapeutics Engineering and Expression
Cambridge (Cambridgeshire) Design / Civil engineering / Industrial engineering
Job description
Job Description
Biologics represent an important part of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) therapeutic portfolio and are a critical component for intervention in the treatment of a broad range of malignancies.
The NIBR Biologics Center (NBC) builds the biologics pipeline in collaboration with NIBR Disease Areas and Platforms via a breadth of technologies for discovery of antibody, protein and gene therapy based therapeutics.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist specialized in protein engineering and expression of biotherapeutics to join the Scaffolds & Developability group within NBC in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Through innovative and rational protein design, the Scaffolds group works collaboratively with Disease and Platform groups to broaden the use of biologics into therapeutic applications where conventional antibodies have limitations. The group supports a diverse portfolio of modalities with an emphasis on bi- and multi-specific antibodies and CAR-T.
The individual will help to lead a small dynamic team responsible for a executing a variety of experiments to design, improve, produce and characterize recombinant novel biologics modalities. The candidate will be responsible for building and supporting a medium throughput platform for the production of multispecifics modalities to support early target discovery and profiling of therapeutic leads in collaboration with groups within NBC and partners. Expertise in protein engineering (rational design, libraries) to improve the stability and developability of novel scaffolds is critical.

• Experience with analytical & biophysical characterization of proteins is critical.
• Expertise in automation for DNA and protein purification is highly preferred.
• Experience in protein design of multispecific antibodies would be a plus.
